Over 34 business, governmental, religious and big heart leaders in Marlin found themselves behind bars on April 28 as part of the annual Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) Lock-up held at the Cactus Restaurant.

The final total of funds raised for the day was $12,243 which will go towards helping MDA and Jerry’s Kids.

Those that agreed to be arrested had their bail set at $1,500 and were encouraged to raise the money up front. Then at their designated time, they were brought in to serve time. Some turned themselves in willingly. Others were brought in by members of the Marlin Police Department and Falls County Sheriff’s Office.

They were “booked” and had their mug shot taken. Then those that wished to continue to raise raising their bail were given a location and time to call to have friends, family and associates donate towards their release.

Top bail raiser was Joe Marak of Belfalls Electric, who raised his full $1500.

Food was provided to all jailbirds by the Cactus Restaurant.
